Bellingen Restaurant is an award winner

Bellingen’s best known fine dining restaurant No. 2 Oak Street has continued to build on its history of success by again winning in the Restaurant and Catering NSW Northern NSW Region Awards for Excellence.

No 2 Oak Street won the Formal Modern Australian Restaurant category, notching up its fourth Restaurant and Catering award in five years.

Toni Urquhart is No 2’s maitre d’ and co-owner and runs the restaurant with her husband Ray, who is also the head chef.
The family involvement includes son Michael, who is the first–year apprentice chef and daughter Shani, who will soon be back in the restaurant following an overseas trip.

Rounding out the staff at No 2 is waitress Tess, who Toni describes as her ‘right hand’, and third-year apprentice chef Jason Bonnie. The team has combined to create a restaurant that wins the praises of critics time after time.
“We are consistently good. We have got all the accolades on the wall and have been in the Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide for the past 5 years,” Toni said.

Toni said the restaurant had “maintained a high score of 14” in the Good Food Guide, a score she is particularly proud of.
She said No 2 Oak Street was also the only restaurant in the area that was featured in the Gourmet Traveller Restaurant Guide.

Recognition in the SMH and Gourmet Traveller food guides also means customers from Sydney are booking at table No 2 when they travel north.
