The hospitable Toni Urquhart from No 2 Oak Street restaurant in Bellingen is the Maitre d’ of the year, according to the Sydney Morning Herald’s authoritative “good Living’ Magazine.Toni won the prestigious ‘Silver service’ Award for the attention she has given her customers over the past 11 years. It’s the first time the award has gone to a maitre d’ outside the metropolitan area. The judges made the award “ for enthusiastic, charming and genuine, warm hearted country hospitality and being a great sommelier to boot!” “I was in shock when the announcement was made at the Opera House function,’ she said. “For once I was stuck for words!” Toni with her husband, Ray (the chef at No 2 Oak Street) have deservedly earned a ‘chef’s hat’ for the past three years, including another this year, from ‘Good Living’ magazine.
